DYLAN Bahamboula is expected to be available for Latics again after missing Saturday’s game through illness.

The playmaker was sent home from training on Friday, and while he told head coach Keith Curle he was feeling better on Saturday morning ahead of the visit of Port Vale, Curle took the decision not to risk him, with one eye on tonight's game at Northmapton Town (kick-off 7.45pm).

A bug has been lingering in the camp, and the Latics chief wanted to eliminate the risk of it spreading further.

“He (Bahamboula) went home from training (on Friday),” Curle explained on Saturday.

“He text me this morning and said that he felt that he might be all right but I didn’t want to take the risk. Do we want to invite a virus into the changing room?

“There’s been a bug going round the football club and it’s lingered a bit.”

Curle added: “He hadn’t felt well enough to train and I made the decision for him to recover and make himself available for Tuesday.”

Meanwhile, Bahamboula last night missed out on the Northwest Football Awards League Two player of the season to Tranmere Rovers defender Peter Clarke.

Bahamboula was shortlisted alongisde Clarke and Morecambe forward Cole Stockton.
