TEN-man Latics suffered late heartache as Swindon Town snatched victory with almost the last kick of the game.

Oldham had Jordan Clarke sent off in stoppage time for a second bookable offence. And it did not take the Robins long to capitalise on their advantage to condemn the League Two strugglers to back-to-back defeats.

Latics had held their own as they had battled to bounce back from last weekend's defeat at home to Carlisle United - their first loss in eight games under John Sheridan.

But they succumbed in the sixth minute of stoppage time when Dion Conroy headed in Ellis Iandolo's delivery from close range, five minutes after Clarke's dismissal for his foul on Ricky Aguiar.

The result leaves Sheridan's men three points adrift of safety with two games in hand on third bottom Stevenage.

And with Walsall to come on Tuesday night Latics will be looking for an immediate response.

They had made a promising start in reacting to last weekend's loss by coming out all guns blazing at the County Ground.

Carl Piergianni had an early header from Nicky Adams' cross saved in the second minute, and seconds later Dylan Bahamboula was presented with a chance by Davis Keillor-Dunn but missed the target.

Swindon retaliated through Jack Payne and Josh Davison before Keillor-Dunn forced a save with his low, left footed shot from outside the area.

From there the home side had the lion's share of possession and chances but Latics dug in to get to the break goalless.

Oldham always had an outlet in Bahamboula and Keillor-Dunn but found themselves with more defending to do in the second half.

They looked to be heading for a creditable draw until Clarke was given his marching orders in the first minute of stoppage time.

Substitute Jack Stobbs then conceded a free kick for the foul on Mandela Egbo, for which he was booked, and Conroy did the damage with his late, late winner.
