Moorside were seven-wicket winners at Roe Green in the GMCL Premier Division on Saturday as they picked up their second victory of the season.

They made light work of the target of 186, winning by seven wickets to take six points with Shahid Mahmood finishing unbeaten on 69 from just 34 balls.

Greenfield went down to a 71-run defeat at Prestwich who moved to the top of the pile.The visitors were bowled out for 214 despite Ayaz Tasawar’s 128.

Elsewhere, Heyside lost by 112 runs at Flixton, Will Avery impressing with 7-49, while Glodwick’s game against Woodbank was postponed due to Covid issues.

In Premier 2, Royton went down to a 124-run defeat at home to Bury, Ben Gorton making an unbeaten 131 for the visitors in their 277-4.

Woodhouses also suffered a heavy defeat by 166 runs at home to Glossop.

Matthew Taylor made 66 but the hosts were all out for 167 after the visitors had posted 305-7.

Shaw were the only Oldham winners in the Championship, making light work of Winton’s 203, chasing it for the loss of just two wickets after Dilanka Sandakan had taken 5-62.

Uppermill went down to a seven-wicket defeat at Westleigh and Friarmere were well beaten by 137 runs at Swinton Moorside.

Division One action saw defeats for both Oldham, by 50 runs at home to South Manchester, and Austerlands, by 14 runs in a tight game at Adlington.

In Division 2B, Saddleworth made it seven wins from seven completed games with a straightforward nine-wicket win at Glossop 2s.

Micklehurst created a gap between them and the bottom four after defending 294 against Springhead in a high-scoring affair, the hosts all out for 256 in reply.

Werneth jumped ahead of Denton St Lawrence 2s in the standings with a 68-run win over them, while Ashton went down to a 108-run defeat against Littleborough Lakeside.

In Division 4E, Ashton Ladysmith won by six wickets at Austerlands 2s and Failsworth Macedonia beat Stayley 2s by four wickets.
