The following planning applications relate to some of the biggest development stories in Oldham over the past fortnight.

Pop-up theatre planned for car park

Planning documents have shown that the pop-up theatre space coming to the borough this spring and summer is set to be based in the Oldham Civic Centre car park.

The theatre company behind Oldham Coliseum recently announced a new programme is coming to the town in the shape of a 167-seat pop-up theatre called the Roundabout.

The 2024 programme is due to deliver theatre, live performances and activities between April and July, and now planning documents have revealed it is planned to be erected in the southeast corner of the Civic Centre car park.

Property to become eight flats

A three-storey property is set to be developed into eight apartments after plans were approved.

The building, which sits on Queens Road, faces Alexandra Park and lies in a largely residential area.

As part of the plans, each flat will have one bedroom, along with a bathroom, kitchen and lounge area, with each floor to have two apartments each, including the basement level.

House to become home for children

A house is set to be developed into a care home which will accommodate two children and carers.

The home will "aim to provide a smooth transition for children and young people who come to live" according to a planning statement and will serve medium to long-term placements.

The children will be aged between eight and 18 and will attend school during the days, while the home will look to help them build the confidence of the youngsters while trying to replicate a normal family environment.

The four-bedroom property will accommodate two children, while carers will work on a rota basis, with two staying in the property each night.
