A popular pub and restaurant in Saddleworth has revealed it has been busy building a new beer garden and outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven in time for summer.

Opening its new outdoor space this weekend, The Old Bell Inn on Huddersfield Road, Delph, said it is "pleased" to reveal its new outside bar and pizza kitchen which sits at the top of the car park.

Accompanying the outdoor space is a new seating area and terrace, which is reserved for walk-ins only while group bookings can be made to the marquee.

In a post on social media, the restaurant said premium gins and draft lager as well as freshly stoned baked pizzas "and much more" will be available for diners outside from this bank holiday weekend onwards.

In line with the expanded venue, the restaurant said it has also refreshed its menus, including its small plates dishes and cocktail drinks.

The post added: "Our team have worked hard to get the outside seating area and terrace ready for this month.

"Even though the outside seating area is always open, the outside kitchen will be weather permitted."

The restaurant also has an affordable menu to help customers impacted by the cost of living crisis.

But the latest news comes as diners were left "stunned" when a black and white ferret, later identified as Taz, strolled through the front door last month.

A photograph of Taz was promptly shared on the pub’s Facebook page in a bid to reunite him with his owner.

Taz managed to bag himself a free night’s stay at the pub, an evening meal, and breakfast in bed before being collected and taken home.
