An independent coffeehouse in Saddleworth is celebrating receiving another award to add to its impressive line-up.

Cal and Thomas Rowson-Codd opened Weaver & Wilde cafe and bistro in the heart of Uppermill on High Street in 2019.

Despite only being open for a few years, it already has a plethora of awards to its name.

The cafe has accumulated at least six awards which includes being crowned the "best coffee house and foodie retailer" at the 2022 Bar and Restaurants Awards - and again in 2023.

It also won the Travellers' Choice Award from Trip Advisor in 2021 and 2022 and a further two Northern Enterprise awards.

The cafe was also shortlisted at the Yorkshire Prestige Awards earlier in June this year but did not confirm if it won.

The bistro remains a popular place for foodies across the region and now has a third Trip Advisor Traveller's Choice Award to prove it.

The Travellers’ Choice Award from Trip Advisor recognises businesses that consistently earn good tourist reviews and are based on ratings posted on the website over the 12-month period from January 1 to December 31.

In a post on social media, the pair said: "Three years on the bounce.

"We're privileged to announce that we have been awarded our third Trip Advisor Traveller's Choice Award in three years.

"Massive thanks to all our fantastic team, past and present, and of course to our wonderful customers.

"Your support is the reason we are here."

The positive news comes as the owners announced its grocery shop, Weaver & Wilde Groceries & Provisions, was forced to close just over a year since it opened.

The grocers opened in June 2022 and closed its doors for good on September 16 this year, as the pair struggled to operate both sites and cited poor health and a long and wet summer as factors behind the snap decision.

Weaver & Wilde cafe is also in the midst of relocating to a new building - just up the road to number 42 - and announced in February it was closed on Mondays to facilitate the big move.

At the time, bosses said they hoped to have settled into the former All Wrapped Up building by the end of summer, however, at the time of writing it remains unclear if the relocation has been completed.

The cafe was contacted for comment on the news but did not respond before the story went to publication.
